Compare two tables and find matching rows

Paste two tables from Excel, Google Sheets or another spreadsheet, choose which columns to use as keys, and get an overview of which rows match. We make it easy to match the rest manually.

  • Free to use
  • We store no data
  • Up to three key columns
  • Export to CSV and TSV
  • No installation or login

How it works

The service is free. All processing happens locally in your browser, and we store no data. The tables you paste are never sent to a server.

The tool is suited for reconciling ledgers against bank statements, invoices against payments, customer and supplier registers, exports from ERP and CRM systems, and other lists that need to be compared. You can match on up to three key columns in priority order, mark matches manually and save the result as CSV or TSV.

  1. Paste the tables

Copy the tables from your spreadsheet with column names in the first row, and paste each into its own field.

  2. Choose key columns

Choose priority 1, 2 and 3 in each table. Rows are matched on priority 1 first, then on priority 2 and 3 for the remaining rows.

  3. Review the result

See the matches sorted by level, and the rows that exist in only one of the tables. Select one row in each table to mark your own match.

  4. Copy or save

Copy the result to the clipboard, or save it as CSV or TSV for further use in your spreadsheet.

Compare tables

The first row of each table must contain column names. Columns are separated by tabs, as they are when you copy from a spreadsheet.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about comparing tables and reconciling lists.

How do I compare two lists from Excel?

Select the table in Excel with column names in the first row, copy it and paste it into Table 1. Do the same with the other list in Table 2. Then choose which column to use as the key in each table. You do not need formulas such as VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP.

Can I reconcile a ledger against the bank?

Yes. Paste the ledger into one table and the bank statement into the other. For example, use the invoice number or payment reference as priority 1 and the amount as priority 2. Rows that do not match automatically can be linked manually.

What do priority 1, 2 and 3 mean?

Rows are matched on the priority 1 column first. The remaining rows are then matched on priority 2 and finally on priority 3. You can also require all selected keys to be equal at the same time.

What happens to my data?

The tables are processed in your browser. They are not sent to us, and we do not store them. When you close the page, the data is gone.

How large can the tables be?

There is no fixed limit. The tables are processed on your own computer, so speed depends on your computer and browser.

Which formats can I save the result in?

You can copy the result straight into a spreadsheet, or save it as CSV (semicolon-separated) or TSV (tab-separated).

Does it cost anything?

No. Tablematch is free and requires no account or login.
